Neurologist Without Referral
Do I need to consult my doctor to see a neurologist? 3
I am currently seeing my doctor about various things including neuropathy, diabetes and 2 herniated discs in the lower back. He told me many times that he could not cure chronic chronic pain, but he referred me to a pain specialist who only gave me injections in the lower back and reduced the pain of neuropathy. Did not help I had explained to him many times that injections would not relieve the throbbing pain in his legs and feet due to neuropathy. He even decided to send me to a neurologist and keep asking me to see a pain specialist. What can I do? Can I see a neurologist without my doctor's recommendation? Someone please help.
It depends on your insurance plan. Most HMOs require referrals, but if you have a PPO or POS plan, you won't need one. Make sure the specialist you want to consult is on your network.
Bring the results and reports of whatever film and photo reports you have, as well as all the other tests you have done.
You can also see a physical therapist who specializes in reaction medicine. Below are some links:
Consult a neurologist.
You rely on your insurance more than anything else. Some specialists accept patients only by reference, but it is likely that someone in your community will see you.
Insurance is the key. With HMO, you can't view anyone but your GP without reference. Otherwise you will not pay the fee. However, most types of insurance (especially PPOs or preferred providers) will cover appointments as long as you see a doctor in your provider's network. This information may be available on your insurer's website for you to search.
Where I come from, you can't just go to the closet (where most specialists are like neurologists) and take a look, you may need to see a family doctor or just your nearest doctor. It's like, hey, I've heard that they can really affect memory and I think drinking too much can cause permanent damage. And Bravo for your hard work and dedication!

I'm sorry to inform you, I understand what debilitating neuropathy is. It is a shame that the doctor treating you does not want to refer you to a neurologist, if they can refer you you should consult a pain specialist. It is also a good idea to contact the customer service department of your health insurance company and see what they have to say.
No, you do not need sponsors. I have epilepsy and I have gone to zero logistics provider. I've been to many different states in my life and I don't need a single reference. I left my doctor. Call your local neurologist and explain your situation. I'm sure they will make an appointment for you.
It depends on your insurance coverage. Call a neurologist and make an appointment. When they apply for insurance, they will tell you if you need a referral. Contact your health insurance company or your doctor. HMOs require referrals, sometimes conventional, but PPOs usually do not.
Yes, in most cases you will need a referral to see a specialist.
