I just bought a Michael Kors bag and rang the store alarm. I showed that it was my coach wallet, but there was no security tag. There is also no security tag on the Michael Kors bag.
Be sure to check inside the zipper area! Empty the WLE pocket, check all the edges. It happened to me in one of my tennis bags and it was the result of a magnetic closure in the zipper box. I only got it because I threw a bottle of water in my bag and had to empty it, lol.
Don't misuse the rope. The belt is designed to give you a waist or lift your pants. Sometimes they leave my belt with me. Belts are not required if clothing is already available. If you wear pants but want to tighten your shirt, it looks a little weird. Wear the belt less often.
