Baba has different meanings depending on where you are. I am Ukrainian and my father was born there with his parents and sister and when we talk about our grandmother we call her Baba. My sister-in-law is from Poland and she said the same thing. But elsewhere Baba means old woman and others.
It was the weirdest thing ... My 7 year old sister kept calling my 3 month old sister Babashka ... It was actually the first time I heard my 3 month old sister laughing.
I think Babushka is the correct term, or Babbi
