Kidde has recalled nearly 500,000 dual detector smoke detectors in the United States and Canada because manufacturing defects can affect the devices' ability to detect smoke. In particular, a yellow cap left behind during production could cover one of the two smoke detectors, creating the risk of not alerting people in the event of a fire in their home.
