I just checked the ring today and it represents a place called Moscow Island. I searched the web and the first link on Google took me to a strange page. The website had a picture of a group of people with a person who looked like Anna M character in the picture. I found the site to be fake, but still very strange. I'm from Oz so forgive me if I look geographically stupid.
The place it takes is a picture of a movie. Sometimes you just have to be more discriminating with the help you render toward other people. The island is a myth. In fact, they built the island using CGI.

As Wired48 said, sometimes you need to create a real website, but the website that is currently appearing in Google search is not the real website of The Ring Movie.
