The towel hanger / towel hanger was off in my bathroom, the nails just didn't work. I like to add glue or flour to keep the sticks healthy. Order? I don't really want to remove the slash, I just want to add extra support to the slash.

I think guerrilla glue fixes almost everything. A word of caution with this glue, or any other glue you can use, once you put it on you will be confused if you decide to use it.
